Kaz Canada, Inc. announces Voluntary Recall of Honeywell Surround Select Series HZ-420, HZ-430, and HZ-440 Ceramic Heaters due to the possibility that the internal housing of the heater potentially can detach, dislocating the heating element
The Electrical Safety Authority is notifying the public that Kaz Canada, Inc. has announced a voluntary recall of the following consumer products. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately.
Name of product:
Honeywell Surround Select Series of HZ-420 and HZ-430 and HZ-440 distributed by Kaz Canada, Inc. under license from Honeywell.
Approximately 6,000 units in Canada.
Manufactured by a third party and distributed by Kaz under license from Honeywell
The internal housing of the heater can detach, dislocating the heating element, which could penetrate the housing and potentially expose hot parts/or circuitry of the heater.
The recall involves only the following models of Honeywell Surround Select Series of heaters. Units were manufactured in black and white color. Only the model numbers below are affected, no other Honeywell heaters are included in this voluntary recall.
The specific model number can be found on the on the bottom of the heater and will be embossed in the plastic casing as shown in Figure 1.
The date codes are important in determining whether the heater qualifies for the recall. The date codes are five digits long, and they can be found on the metal prong of the plug as shown in Figure 2. If the last two digits in your date code are 11, you have the heater that is being recalled.
No injuries or adverse events have been reported.
Various retailers in Canada including Rona, Home Hardware and Irly.
The heaters were distributed between July 1st 2011 and December 16th 2011.
Consumers should immediately contact Kaz Canada, Inc. to determine if their heater is included in the recall. If so, follow the instructions for product return in order to receive a refund. Do not return the heater back to the store where you purchased it.
